Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at an academic medical center, requiring CA RN licensure, a BSN, and recent hands-on ECMO experience.
Details
- Float pool ICU position at an academic medical center, not unit-based
- Float to all TCUs, ICUs, ED, and PACU as needed
- Rotating 12-hour day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) shifts on a 4-week schedule cycle
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Epic charting system preferred
- Care for complex critical care patients including those on ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, CRRT, and PA catheters
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BSN required
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
- ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required as a bedside RN with primary ECMO responsibility (not perfusionist-managed)
- CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Teaching hospital/academic medical center experience preferred
- Completed a travel nursing assignment within the past 12 months, with 1 year or less of travel experience within the past 5 years
- Two references from most recent employer required for consideration
- Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, NxStage CRRT, Teleflex IABP, Impella, ventricular assist devices, pulmonary artery catheters, and prostacyclin therapies strongly preferred
- Cardiothoracic surgery recovery, heart transplant recovery, lung transplant recovery, and bridge-to-transplant experience strongly preferred
- Experience simultaneously managing multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) highly desirable
Additional Information
- Deliver advanced critical care to patients on mechanical circulatory and multi-organ support therapies, including ECMO, CRRT, and ventricular assist devices
- Candidates evaluated on ability to function within the facility's ICC care model, with ECMO experience considered as one component of a broader critical care competency profile
- Any prior employment with any University of California medical facility or affiliated/acquired facility must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names for a rehire eligibility review
- All RTO must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
- Floating may include reassignment to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius
- Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
