Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float ICU/PCU position requiring comfort across all ICU and PCU units, Epic proficiency, and experience at a large Level I or II trauma facility.

Details

  • Float position covering all ICU and PCU units within a large acute care teaching hospital
  • ICU patient ratio averages 2:1; PCU patient ratio averages 5:1
  • Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning travelers may float 2–3 times per shift
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
  • Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Clinical skills required include arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV initiation and maintenance
  • Respiratory support skills required: BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilated patient care
  • Medication administration skills required: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Wound care experience required: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
  • Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • IV insulin protocol adherence required

Requirements

  • Active Virginia state or compact RN license currently in hand; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • ICU experience required
  • Experience at a large Level I or II trauma facility required
  • 2+ years of experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration
