Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse position in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves providing specialized care within a Level 1 Trauma designated environment, focusing on neuro-critical care, stroke management, and post-operative monitoring. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a teaching hospital setting, supporting diverse patient populations with complex medical needs.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks.
- Required Qualifications: Two or more years of experience in adult intensive care units, current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, and Epic electronic medical record experience.
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Neuro ICU cases including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and post-operative neurosurgical patients.
- Patient Ratios: RN patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally tripled with downgrade orders.
- Support within the Department: Access to stroke response nurse, clinical educator, charge nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapy, intensivist services, and pharmacy support after 11:00 PM.
- Technology/Equipment: Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, Artic Sun temperature management devices, Vigilance Monitors, CRRT, ICP monitoring/EVD drains, and other unit-specific equipment.
- Orientation: Two days of departmental orientation, tailored to the candidates skillset and comfort level.
- Float: Float rotation to adult critical care units such as MICU, STICU, Dixon Heart, and CTICU, as needed.
- Other Notes: Scrub color navy blue, free parking, and a teamwork-oriented, retention-focused unit culture.
