Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in a healthcare facility. The role involves providing acute patient care to individuals with critical health needs, utilizing advanced nursing procedures, equipment, and technology, while acting as a patient advocate. The ICU RN develops and evaluates care plans based on ANA Standards and the Nursing Process, educating patients and families on self-care issues. Responsibilities may include medication inventory, distribution, and delivery.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour daytime shifts; minimum 36 hours per week; scheduled off at least three holidays per year; expected to work weekends per unit need; work overtime on occasion.
• Required Qualifications: Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse; must hold a license in the state of permanent residency; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) skills to be obtained within 12 months of employment; NIH Stroke Scale Certification to be obtained during orientation; minimum 2 years of experience.

• Additional Information: Patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have acute care needs, which require continuous monitoring that cannot be provided on the general floors or Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ICU RN may be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy. The position includes a non-billable 8-hour orientation. Orientation hours do not count towards guaranteed hours. The organization may call off or cancel the assignment up to 12 hours before the scheduled start. Charting is performed in EPIC.
