Job Summary:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) located in Grafton, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized patient care within a Level III trauma center, focusing on respiratory, cardiovascular, and neuro-critical cases. The position requires working night shifts within a fast-paced hospital environment to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Job Details:

  • Location: Grafton, Wisconsin
  • Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Active BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS preferred; 3 years of ICU experience; Wisconsin state license; applicable educational background
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiovascular and cardiovascular surgery, IABPs, Impellas
  • Patient Types and Common Diagnoses: Sepsis, alcohol and IV drug abuse, overdose, suicidal ideation, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, acute respiratory failure, COVID-19, diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 based on acuity
  • Skills Required: Ventilator and tracheostomy management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swanz-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, Foley catheter management, post-surgical and post-cardiac cath recovery, CVVH and CRRT management
  • Support Within Department: CNA (day/night), receptionists, charge nurses, ICU supervisors, phlebotomy, educators, respiratory therapists (RT), hospitalists, intensivists, ICU pharmacist
  • Technology and Equipment: EPIC EHR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, NxStage CRRT equipment
  • Floating: Float within scope to intermediate units (1:3), medical-surgical units, ED boarding (1:4), observation units (1:4); travelers are first to float
  • Orientation: One day with educator including badge access and Basic Cardiac Life Support (CBLs), meet-and-greet with Nurse Manager, shift with a preceptor
  • Scheduling and Additional Notes: Every other weekend rotation, no on-call requirement, one holiday per contract, shift times from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, four-week schedule cycle, scrubs in any color (no camo, logos, or graphics), free parking, more than two sick calls may prompt contract review
