Job Summary The Chicago, Illinois area is seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Level 1 Trauma Center. This position involves providing specialized nursing care in a busy, teaching hospital setting with a focus on critically ill patients in a Magnet-designated facility.
Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; 2 years of ICU experience; Ohio Registered Nurse license or state license; Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher; Level 1 Trauma Center experience preferred; capable of handling complex patient cases including multi-system organ failure, stroke, post-cardiac procedures, and ventilated patients
Support on the Unit: CNA support, resource nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, resident physicians, and other advanced support staff
Responsibilities include managing ventilators, chest tubes, arterial lines, Swan Ganz catheters, vasopressor and sedation titration, CRRT, balloon pumps, and wound vacs
Additional Information: Orientation includes two shifts with one at the SICU. Travel staff may float to the Surgical ICU, Telemetry, or Medical/Surgical units.
