Job Description & Requirements

- Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Shift: 12-hour Nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 (48 hours available upon request)
- Local Rule: No local candidates within 40 miles
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN License
- AHA BLS
- AHA ACLS
- NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (3 years preferred)
- At least 1 completed travel assignment
Required Skills
- Strong neurological assessments
- NIHSS and dysphagia screening
- Telemetry/EKG interpretation (exam required on first day)
- Ventilator/ETT management (RT available)
- Titration of sedatives, paralytics, vasoactive, cardiac, and insulin drips
- Sepsis management
- Post-ROSC therapeutic hypothermia
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability
Preferred Skills
- tPA administration and assessments
- Massive transfusion protocol (Belmont)
Unit Details
- 18-bed ICU
- Mixed ICU and step-down patient population
- Patient Ratios:
- Charge nurse carries an assignment
- May float to step-down level of care if needed
