Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Nurse position available in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves providing high-acuity care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced, Level 1 trauma center ICU. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, teamwork, and a positive attitude to excel on this unit.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; at least 2 years of experience in ICU.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma patients, intubation, and monitoring complex devices such as CVPs, IABP, Impella, Alines, and Swans; ability to interpret telemonitors.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU.
- Additional Information:
- Unit contains 18 beds with patient ratios of 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:4 in PCU.
- Patients primarily include adults and patients over 15 years old with trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, COPD, cardiac arrest, and related conditions.
- RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.
- Shift management includes self-scheduling, managed by the unit manager based on needs.
- Weekend shifts: 4 per 6-week schedule.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- RTO (Request for Time Off) must be submitted upfront for 7 or fewer days; no additional RTOs will be approved.
- The unit uses EPIC charting system and Draeger heart monitors.
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization, including affiliated health systems.
- This is a 13-week assignment with the possibility of hospital cancellation of up to 4 shifts.
