Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Redding, California.

Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is based in Redding, California. This role involves working in a fast-paced ICU environment with a focus on trauma, neuro-strokes, head injuries, ventriculostomies, and intracranial pressure monitoring. The position requires expertise in critical care procedures, including titrating drips and interpreting telemetry strips. The nurse will collaborate with an intensivist in a well-equipped unit that offers 24/7 respiratory therapy support.

Job Details:

  • Location: Redding, California
  • Schedule: 12-hour days, every other weekend, with a start date of 09/15/2026
  • Required Qualifications: BLS & ACLS Certifications are required. PALS is preferred. Candidates must have 2-3 years of experience in the specialty. Previous travel experience is preferred. Experience with ICP monitoring, ventriculostomies, neuro-strokes, and head injuries is essential. Must have experience with post-TPA patients.
  • Preferred Qualifications: PALS certification.
  • Responsibilities include managing trauma patients, neuro-stroke, head injuries, ventriculostomy management, ICP monitoring, and titrating vasopressors and sedatives. The RN must interpret telemetry strips, and a GE monitor system will be used.
  • Additional information: The unit is fast-paced, with a robust interventional radiology program. Nurses are expected to work very hard, ask questions as needed, and maintain good team rapport. The hospital provides a nursing orientation and access to necessary equipment such as Hamilton vents.
  • Certifications needed prior to start: ACLS, BLS, and COVID-19 vaccination. NIHSS certification is also required, PALS is preferred.
  • Other details: The charge nurse does not take patient assignments. House supervisor coverage is 24/7. A unit tech supports bedside activities. Self-scheduling is tentative until the manager reviews it approximately six weeks in advance.
  • Willingness to float to other PCU and CICU units is required, with the insertion of ICU patients, not open-heart cases.
