Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing position is located in a short-term acute care facility in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role involves providing critical care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction, and post-operative management of cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries. The position offers flexible scheduling for night shifts and accommodates a block schedule, with potential for working up to 48 hours per week. The ICU environment is supported by a multidisciplinary team specialized in advanced patient care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: 2 years of experience in ICU nursing, current Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Valid license in Missouri or compact license required at time of submission.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Units, community hospital settings, and with electronic charting systems such as Epic are preferred.
- Float: Float within service line to ICU units may be required.
- Additional Information: This role involves managing complex patients with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, and sepsis. Candidates must be proficient in advanced ICU procedures, invasive monitoring, ventilator management, and emergency medications. The unit is equipped with IV pumps, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators/BIPAP, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring. Travelers will not take fresh cases but will be scheduled for post-operative care, end-of-life, and transplant patients.
- Travel Experience Required: Yes.
- Special Requirements: Certification in ACLS is required at the time of assignment. Completion of required modules via WorkRamp within 2 Fridays prior to start date. No more than 7 days of scheduled rapid time off (RTO).
- Unit Details: The ICU handles adult and geriatric patient populations with a daily census indicating new admissions to a 21-bed unit. The environment includes a multidisciplinary team with respiratory therapy, social services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
- Facilities & Equipment: IV pumps, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators/BIPAP, invasive monitoring, defibrillator, crash cart.
- Additional Notes: Must meet all compliance deadlines, including fit testing and labs. Mobile or compact licenses accepted if applicable. No local candidates within 75 miles of the facility.
