Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical ICU position requiring TX or compact RN licensure and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical-Surgical ICU of a hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) with block scheduling
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3
  • Utilizes Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS and PALS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Experience in teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II settings preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, arterial line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Experience managing continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with acute/chronic renal failure and CVVHD/CRRT
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure care
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and infection prevention/isolation precautions

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to a Medical-Surgical ICU patient population
  • Skills in oncology, neurological, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal specialty care are preferred, including chemotherapy administration, EVD, ICP monitoring, ECMO, IABP, TAVR, and GI surgery support
  • Complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Onsite orientation modules required, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
  • Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
