Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU Registered Nurse for a night shift assignment requiring a KS or Compact RN license and dedicated ICU experience managing complex cardiac and ventilated patients.

Details

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting caring for a cardiac patient population
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Must be able to manage two ventilated patients while multitasking multiple drip titrations
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Floating to like units within scope required as needed, with brief orientation provided

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required in hand at time of consideration
• NIHSS certification required in hand at time of consideration
• CPI and TNCC certifications preferred
• 2 years of RN experience required, including 1 year of current dedicated ICU experience within the past 2-3 years
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Cardiovascular skills required including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, sheath removal, and dysrhythmia management/interpretation
• Additional preferred cardiovascular skills include CABG, Impella, IABP, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and Swan-Ganz/FloTrac monitoring
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, IV insulin protocols, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction required
• Neurological skills required including CVA/stroke management, with hypothermia protocol experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill cardiac and post-surgical ICU patients, including those on ventilators and multiple drip titrations
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
