Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 14-week day shift assignment requiring GA or compact RN licensure and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting caring for adult to geriatric patients
• General diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• Unit has 24 rooms with an average daily census of 19
• Patient ratio is 1:2-3, with the possibility of taking a 3rd patient
• Uses Pyxis and Epic systems, with SBAR communication method
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Travel pairs are not permitted on the same shift and unit

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS prior to start
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience with care of ventilated patients and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) required
• Experience with ETT and NT suctioning required
• IV therapy and central line care/management experience required
• CVA/acute stroke management experience required
• Post neurosurgery management experience preferred
• CVVHD/CRRT experience preferred
• Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience required
• Post cardiac surgery care experience preferred (not directly from OR)
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct ICU-level care for critically ill adult and geriatric patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration
• Holiday coverage required for major holidays occurring during the assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment, no holiday time off can be requested
• If three major holidays fall within the assignment, one holiday time off request may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous Piedmont employees must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
