Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a travel ICU position in Wilson, NC, requiring at least 1.5 years of critical care experience and AHA-certified BLS and ACLS.

Details

  • Day shift position, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM in a 16-bed ICU at a 294-bed, Joint Commission Accredited hospital
  • Adult patient population with common diagnoses including COPD, ARF, DKA, sepsis, and shock
  • ICU patient ratio is 2:1; IMU ratio is 3:1; telemetry overflow ratio is 1:5
  • Unit also supports IMU and telemetry overflow patients
  • Weekend requirement of 12 hours every other or every third weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating is required within the unit
  • EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
  • Equipment includes cardiac monitors, Hill-Rom Progressive Care series beds with scale, Abbott Glucometer, EndoTool, Bair Hugger, TR band, Hotline 3 fluid warmer, Baxter IV pumps, and bedside dialysis capability
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
  • Associate's degree required; BSN preferred
  • Proficiency in EKG interpretation required
  • Experience with critical drips including vasopressors and sedation, including titration, required
  • Strong critical thinking skills required
  • Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate

Additional Information

  • Care for adult ICU patients with complex conditions such as sepsis, shock, and DKA
  • Supervised by a Clinical Staff Lead or Charge Nurse
  • Orientation is conducted bi-weekly
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and adaptable personality is a strong fit for this unit
  • Scrub color is not assigned; artificial nails are not permitted
  • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
  • Candidates who are employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible
