Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Medical Surgical ICU setting with 15 beds, 13 rooms, and an average daily census of 12
  • Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses including sepsis/septic shock, respiratory failure, post-cardiac arrest, GI bleed/hemorrhagic shock, DKA, acute kidney disease, complicated surgical cases, pulmonary edema/embolus, drug overdose, hypertensive emergencies, cardiac arrhythmias, rhabdomyolysis, metabolic encephalopathy, and malignant neoplasms
  • Procedures and therapies include CRRT, TTM, chest tubes, bronchoscopies, lumbar punctures, I&Ds, central line insertion assistance, central/arterial line maintenance, peritoneal dialysis, continuous bladder irrigations, and continuous IV infusions (pressors, paralytics, sedatives, cardiac drips)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2–3
  • EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • 16-week contract

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
  • Epic proficiency required
  • Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • RTO blackout dates apply for Spring Break (April 4–12)
  • If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Travelers must be away from all Piedmont facilities for a full year before returning as a traveler
  • No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the posted shift is firm
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • The shift and schedule listed are firm; no alternate shift or schedule requests will be accommodated
