ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or a valid compact nursing license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1.5 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Demonstrated ability to care for critically ill adult patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions
• Travel nursing experience is not required; first-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Applicants must reside outside the applicable 50-mile local radius

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the intensive care unit
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and recognize changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or organ failure
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, continuous IV sedation, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications
• Provide care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage BiPAP and CPAP therapy
• Interpret arterial blood gases and perform appropriate respiratory interventions, including airway suctioning
• Follow isolation precautions and maintain a safe, evidence-based critical care environment
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support optimal patient outcomes
