Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring a NC or compact RN license and prior ICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the ICU of a short-term acute care, Level III trauma and teaching hospital
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-3
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within the hospital or sister campus depending on booking
  • Epic EMR used, experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Must pass an Advanced EKG exam prior to start, no exceptions
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care/management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Additional skills include ventilator patient care, BiPAP/CPAP management, chronic/acute renal failure management, IV insulin protocols, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, emergency medications, procedural sedation monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG required
  • Preferred skills include chest tube insertion/removal assistance, GI surgery, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy care, cardiac sheath removal, and thermoregulation management
  • Experience in Medical, Neuro, Surgical, or Trauma ICU settings preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients in a Level III trauma and teaching hospital setting
  • Royal blue and white scrub color required
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the main campus to be eligible as travelers
  • Previous employees must have been separated for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Contract extensions limited to once on day shift or twice on night shift, with a required 6-month break before reapplying afterward
  • RTO requests are subject to manager discretion
  • First-time travelers may be considered depending on years of experience, at manager's discretion
