Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team primarily supporting various units, including GSH 1 Daily and 2 River North and South, as well as Float Pool Teams. The selected candidates will work in a dynamic environment with a variety of patient types and conditions.

Unit Information

Available units include:

• MSICU: 40 beds
• CVICU: 10 beds
• PCU: 40 beds
• 2R PCU Observation: 18 beds (can increase when open for overflow)
• CCU: 30 beds
• Medical: 89 beds
• Surgical: 55 beds
• Flex Unit: 9 beds (consists of PCU and medical-surgical patients)
• Inpatient Rehab: 47 beds on two floors
• Emergency Room Holding Unit
• COVID overflow patients

Qualifications

Minimum Experience Required:

• ICU: 2 years of ICU experience
• PCU/PCU ER Holds: 2 years of PCU experience
• Medical-Surgical: 2 years in an acute care setting

Patient Types and Common Diagnoses

ICU:

• Respiratory Failure
• GI Bleeds
• DKA
• Sepsis
• Complicated Post-operative Patients
• CVA's and Post-Arrest
• Patients with ETOH and IVDA issues
• No craniotomies, major traumas, or major cardiothoracic patients

PCU:

• Respiratory Compromise
• Sepsis
• Renal Failure
• Bleeding Disorders
• General Medical/Surgical Patients
• CHF, COPD, Pneumonia

Medical-Surgical:

• Oncology: Neutropenic and Post-operative Patients
• General Medical-Surgical Patients, including COPD, CHF, DVT, and COVID

Rehab:

• Neuro: Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, TBI, Multi-Trauma, Post-COVID, and Post-ICU Patients
• Patients requiring Ventilator and Tracheostomy Support

Patient Ratios

• ICU: 1:2 based on acuity
• PCU and CCU: 1:4 depending on acuity or if patient is discharging
• Medical and Surgical: 1:5
• Rehab: 1:8 team model (RN, LPN, Tech)

Certifications Required

• ICU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• PCU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Medical-Surgical: BLS, NIHSS

Skills Required

• ICU: Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Vent Management, Invasive Line Management
• PCU: Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Chest Tubes, Lumbar Drains
• Medical-Surgical: IV Management, PCA, Chest Tubes, Drains, Ostomies, IV Antibiotics
• Strong Communication and Patient Teaching Skills are essential for all candidates.
