Travel ICU Registered Nurse opportunity in Chesapeake, Virginia, near Virginia Beach and Norfolk in Coastal Virginia. Join a fast-paced critical care team and provide expert care for high-acuity patients in a dynamic Intensive Care Unit setting.

• Schedule Options: 3x12s or 4x12s
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
• Unit Focus: Neuro, respiratory, renal, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, and cardiac patient populations
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Floating: Required to Stepdown and may float to the ED or Medical-Surgical units for ICU holds
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Charting System: Epic

ICU Registered Nurse Requirements

• 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records required
• Strong neuro critical care experience preferred, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke care
• Experience with ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation
• Ability to recognize and manage dysrhythmias and respond to critical care emergencies
• Comfortable floating to Stepdown and caring for ICU patients in ED or Medical-Surgical settings when needed
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• No prior license or background hits
• Ability to complete required EKG testing with a passing score of 80% or higher
• Flu vaccination required; medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in the ICU
• Monitor, assess, and intervene for patients with complex neurological, respiratory, renal, traumatic, and cardiac conditions
• Manage ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, telemetry, and other advanced critical care therapies
• Support patients recovering from neurosurgical procedures, stroke, sepsis, respiratory failure, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, radiology, and physical therapy
• Float as needed to Stepdown and other designated units while maintaining ICU-level standards of care
• Complete pre-start modules and orientation requirements in a timely manner
• Promote patient safety, accurate documentation, and excellent clinical outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment
