Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 24 months of recent ICU experience, prior travel experience, and IA or compact licensure.

Details

• Work in a 5-bed ICU with 3 stepdown beds within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:2, sometimes 1:3 depending on overflow
• Patient population includes vent, BiPAP, AirVo, bariatric surgery, and general surgery cases
• Manages drips including propofol, levophed, diltiazem, insulin, and heparin
• Days shift, 7a start, 3x12s, 36 hrs/week, no 48s
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float required to Med Surg unit when ICU census is low or staff calls in
• Med Surg patient types include bariatric surgery, ortho, and general med surg with a 1:5 ratio
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active IA or compact/multistate RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC) required and active
• TNCC certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred, may be obtained during onboarding
• Minimum 24 months of recent/current ICU experience required
• Travel nursing experience within the previous 24 months required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Telemetry reads/measures skills required
• Comfort caring for 2-5 patients required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced ICU environment with occasional floating to Med Surg and stepdown units
• Med Surg experience strongly encouraged due to floating requirements
• Holiday rotation required; contractors must work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible for travel positions at any UPH market facility within the past 12 months
• First-time travelers may be considered given required experience and certifications are met
