ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to critically ill patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the ICU.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in status.
• Titrate IV drips and administer medications as required.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including interpreting telemetry strips.
• Supervise and support nursing aides and other healthcare staff as needed.
• Participate in orientation and training sessions, including assessments to ensure competencies.
• Assist with various procedures and respond to emergencies effectively.

Requirements

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• NIHSS certification is also required.
• A minimum of 2 years of ICU experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
• Must adhere to a fingernail policy, prohibiting artificial nails.
• Driver's license required for eligibility verification.

Unit Information

• Total number of beds: 33, with an average daily census of 16.
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults.
• Common diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac issues, substance abuse, sepsis, post-operative cases, strokes, and various forms of respiratory distress.
• Daily schedule: 12-hour shifts, including weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays.
• Floating may occur to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical units.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will undergo one shift of department-specific orientation. Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront, with a limit of 7 days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after submissions.
