Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week days assignment requiring a CA RN license and prior ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital environment
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Every other weekend required (Sunday night not considered a weekend shift)
• Floating required, potentially to Telemetry and Med-Surg units
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Meditech charting system experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Proficient in CVP monitoring, arterial line management, and central/PICC line care
• Experience with blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
• Skilled in ventilator management, suctioning (ETT, NT), and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, ICP monitoring, EVDs, and lumbar drains
• Experience with post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery patient management
• Experience with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury care
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
• Skilled in phlebotomy and infection prevention/isolation precautions
• Experience with GI surgery and acute/chronic renal failure management
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive ICU-level care including cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, and renal patient management
• Administer emergency medications and procedural sedation as needed
• Perform port accessing/management and IV starts/maintenance
• Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• All time off requests must be submitted upfront with no exceptions
