ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Assignment in New Haven, CT

ICU Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Job Type: Travel nursing contract

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Healthcare Setting: High-acuity MICU and step-down unit in a Level I Trauma Center environment
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 3:1 in step-down; ICU assignments are typically 1:1 or 2:1, with occasional 3:1 assignments for lower-acuity patients

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent ICU, MICU, or comparable critical care registered nursing experience
• Active Connecticut Registered Nurse license or the ability to obtain licensure before the assignment start date
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience caring for patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver or renal failure, post-cardiac-arrest conditions, and gastrointestinal bleeding
• Competency in ventilated patient care, arterial line management, central line care, continuous IV sedation, ABG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
• Ability to float to the PCU, other ICU units, and designated nearby units as needed
• Flu vaccination is required
• Travel nurses residing outside the local 75-mile area are eligible
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

Critical Care RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the MICU and step-down setting
• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate timely interventions
• Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, continuous IV sedation, invasive monitoring, and complex medication therapies
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, arterial blood gases, and other critical diagnostic information
• Care for patients experiencing multisystem organ dysfunction or failure and other complex critical illnesses
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in Epic
• Float to other critical care and step-down areas while maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical quality
