Travel Nursing Job Details
- Assignment Type: 13-week ICU travel nursing contract
- Location: New Haven, Connecticut
- Start Date: October 30, 2026
- End Date: January 29, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
- Schedule: Four 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Call: Not required
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 on days, nights, and weekends; assignments may be 1:1 or 2:1 based on acuity
- Floating: PCU, other ICUs, and an affiliated campus as needed
- Unit: 56-bed high-acuity Medical ICU and stepdown environment
Travel ICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut
- At least 2 years of recent ICU or Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience caring for critically ill patients with complex medical conditions
- Proficiency with arterial line management, ventilated patient care, central line care, continuous IV sedation, and dysrhythmia management
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and recognize clinical deterioration
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment use
- Comfort working in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center setting
- Willingness to float to related critical care and stepdown units as needed
- Previous travel nursing experience is welcome; first-time travelers may be considered
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the MICU and stepdown settings
- Monitor and manage patients experiencing acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver or renal failure, post-cardiac arrest complications, and gastrointestinal bleeding
- Assess patient status, identify changes in condition, and initiate timely interventions
- Manage ventilated patients, continuous infusions, arterial lines, central lines, and other critical care therapies
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and arterial blood gases to support clinical decision-making
- Administer medications and titrate therapies in accordance with patient needs and clinical protocols
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team
- Apply infection prevention, isolation, and safety standards consistently
- Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, support staff, patients, and families to promote quality outcomes
- Float to designated units when requested while maintaining safe, compassionate patient care
