Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a high-acuity Level II Trauma unit requiring strong neuro experience and CA licensure.

Details

• Level II Trauma ICU with 12 overflow beds serving cardiovascular, multi-trauma, gunshot, stroke, STEMI, and ortho patients
• High-acuity neuro population including thrombectomy-capable stroke care
• Patient population also includes CABG/valve/IABP, CRRT, sepsis, and surgical cases
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Float required between PCU and ICU overflow units
• No weekend or on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at submission
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire Card
• Community Hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required (discuss with manager for PD)
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Strong neuro nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory care required
• Experience managing cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and dysrhythmias required
• Neuro-specific skills required, including CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy care
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Work in a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 377 staffed beds
• Provide critical care nursing across neuro, surgical, and cardiovascular ICU populations
• Any scrub color permitted; L/D and OR scrubs provided
• Free on-site parking available
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted at time of application; post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for facility eligibility
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must disclose any prior employment history with Providence facilities
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Compact license must be active and in hand at time of submission
