Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 2 trauma acute care unit requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and an active NE or compact RN license.

Details

  • ICU unit within an acute care, Level 2 trauma hospital
  • 33-bed unit with average daily census of 16
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adults
  • 12-hour day shifts (0630-1830)
  • Self-scheduling available for core staff, with travelers added into the schedule
  • Block scheduling not permitted unless it is weekends only
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
  • Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract time frame
  • Floating required, typically to PCU and occasionally MedSurg at a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio
  • EPIC EMR used
  • Nurse Aides and Healthcare Support techs assist based on census
  • Tele monitoring with GE equipment, RNs required to read/interpret/document strips with tele tech oversight
  • RT equipment used includes nasal cannula through ventilators, with RNs responsible for troubleshooting
  • On-call requires arrival within 30 minutes if called back in

Requirements

  • Active NE or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (active, pending not accepted)
  • Experience titrating drips required, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
  • Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Care for adult patients with trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent and pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
  • 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided
  • 12 hours of general orientation
  • RNs must pass a pass/fail, open-book exam on Wednesdays during orientation, requiring a 90% score to continue the assignment
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
  • Candidates sharing a car or requesting identical schedules as a duo will not be accepted
