ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour Nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Number of Beds: 32 (licensed for 40) organized in pods of 8
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
• Charge Nurse: Yes, with no patient assignment
• Nurse Aides: Typically 1 on days only
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue for RNs, Hunter Green for Nurse Aides
• Floating: May float to Telemetry and ED ICU/Telemetry holds

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients including those on ventilators and various types of drips (e.g., pressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation).
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; RN will read and interpret their own strips.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members, including hospitalists and intensivists who are available in-house.
• Assist with advanced procedures related to neuro and cardiac care, sepsis management, and alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
• Participate in bedside reporting and huddle reports to ensure quality patient care transitions.

Orientation and Training

Orientation will consist of:

• Day 1: 8 hours with an ICU educator followed by 4 hours with a preceptor.
• Day 2: 12 hours with a preceptor.

Candidates are expected to maintain a professional appearance and are not permitted to wear acrylic nails or gel polish during their assignment.
