ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join a dedicated healthcare team in providing high-quality care for critically ill patients. This position is focused on delivering exceptional nursing support in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Shift Details

• Working Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend and Holiday availability required
• Role includes first to float to other areas as needed

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Number of Beds: 4
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 depending on acuity
• Common Diagnoses: DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac issues (rate and rhythm control), medical detox, arterial lines, central venous pressure
• Charge Nurse: No dedicated charge nurse, with Emergency Room in charge of the ICU
• Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Not available in this unit
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: RN required to troubleshoot basic equipment such as nasal cannula to ventilators
• Telemetry: RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation required

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care setting
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Experience with trauma patient care is preferred (TNCC/TCAR certification or equivalent experience)
• Must be able to titrate intravenous drips as typical in an ICU setting
• Attributes for success in this unit include coachability, motivation, teamwork, and ability to recognize and address unsafe situations

Additional Information

Candidates must be aware of fit testing requirements for facial hair, as those unable to pass testing may face contract cancellation. Candidates must also work where there is a need, including potential floating to medical/surgical or emergency departments for 1:1 staffing situations.

Staff scrubs must be navy in color.
