Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift MICU/Neuro ICU position requiring critical care experience and drip titration skills.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in a combined MICU/Neuro ICU unit with 20 beds
• Patient population includes stroke, dialysis, head bleeds, and neuro disorders requiring critical care with ventric/EVD management
• 2:1 patient to nurse ratio
• Nurse aide support available at a 10:1 ratio
• RNs required to titrate drips including Levophed, phenylephrine, versed, paralytics, heparin, insulin, nicardipine, and vaso
• Free charge nurse not included in staffing counts
• Intensivist in house during the day and on call at night with 24/7 APP coverage
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with vents, BiPap, high flow, and nasal cannula equipment
• Telemetry monitored remotely from another floor rather than on unit
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 3x12hr shifts totaling 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement of 3 weekend shifts plus 1 Friday and 1 Monday per 4-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required as needed but not on every holiday
• 13-week contract assignment

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
• Experience titrating critical care drips required
• BSN not required for this position
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or submit an approved medical/religious exemption

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex ICU patients including stroke, neuro, and dialysis cases
• Work closely with in-house intensivists, 24/7 APP coverage, and respiratory therapy staff
• Some units require pass/fail EKG testing depending on facility
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a traveler
• Previous travelers who worked a full year at this health system must take a 2-year break before returning
• Previous permanent staff must be gone for 2 years before returning as a traveler
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1-year work period within the health system before requiring a 2-year break

• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
