Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of general medical ICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 16-bed ICU in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in stepdown
• Cares for a wide variety of medical and surgical patients including post-STEMI cardiac cath intervention, sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, post-op ICU care, post vascular surgical intervention, CHF, post cardiac arrest, renal failure with hemodialysis and CRRT, post stroke/TPA infusion, GI bleed, and substance/alcohol withdrawal management
• RNs required to titrate drips including Levophed, propofol, heparin, vasopressin, phenylephrine, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitroglycerine, dexmedetomidine, furosemide, dopamine, and dobutamine
• Night shift schedule from 6PM-6:30AM with every other weekend requirement
• Holiday coverage required based on department need
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required in rotation with staff based on department need within acute care and ER transition, with a maximum assignment of 3 ICU patients
• May float to other Region I facilities including St. Anne Hospital in Burien and Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Dedicated charge nurse for the department and hospital supervisor coverage 11PM-7:30AM
• RT support in ICU 24/7 with ventilators, high flow, CPAP, BiPAP, and AVAPS equipment available
• Telemetry monitoring on unit with dedicated monitor techs; RNs verify strips
• Hospitalist in house 24/7 with intensivist available via virtual ICU after 7PM

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of general medical ICU experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (active only, pending not accepted)
• Experience with sepsis management, targeted temperature management, and manual proning for intubated patients required
• Experience with post cardiac cath and PCI care (radial and groin approach) preferred
• Experience with post-TPA infusion management for stroke preferred
• BSN not required for this position
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

• Provide ICU-level nursing care across a wide variety of procedural, surgical, and medical patients
• Unit offers great teamwork and diverse clinical experience
• No dedicated nurse aides on the unit; resource nurse staffed based on census/acuity
• Unit-specific orientation includes 1 day with educator, 1 day of EPIC training (if needed), and 2 days of department orientation
• No specific scrub color required; clean, professional attire expected
• Hospital located in the Puget Sound region between Seattle and Tacoma, close to outdoor recreational activities
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year (PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable)
