ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Position: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 27, 2026
• End Date: January 2, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
• Shift: 8-hour night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Alternating weekends
• Call: As needed; must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call
• Unit: Six-bed ICU with approximately 2:1 patient ratios
• Patient Population: Patients of all ages
• Charting System: Medhost Clinicals

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in New Mexico
• Associate degree in nursing or higher
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications at submission
• Demonstrated proficiency in ventilator management, continuous medication titration, and comprehensive ICU patient care
• Ability to float to other departments, including medical-surgical and emergency care areas, as needed
• Professional communication style and commitment to high-quality patient care
• Completion of applicable New Mexico fingerprinting and background-screening requirements

ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients across the lifespan
• Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Manage mechanical ventilation and monitor respiratory status
• Titrate continuous medications according to patient response and established protocols
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record
• Respond effectively to emergencies and support safe, evidence-based patient outcomes
• Participate in weekend coverage, call responsibilities, and floating assignments as scheduled
