Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a day shift position requiring 1.5+ years of ICU experience and NM or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule (4x12 hours), 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Weekend shifts required
  • May be floated to Med-Surg, Stepdown, PCU, ER, or CVICU, with a cap of 4 patients while floating
  • Travelers will receive brief orientation when floating to like units

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
  • Current certifications: ACLS and NIHSS required, BLS preferred
  • Minimum 1.5-2 years of ICU experience required
  • Prior experience with 1:2 patient ratios required
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Respiratory skills required include chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning, and ventilator management
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management required
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction care, and IV insulin protocols required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Experience in Neuro ICU or Surgical ICU settings preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients with complex, multisystem conditions
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted
  • Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Up to 4 days of RTO can be auto-approved at time of submission, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
