ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Participates in holiday rotations with permanent staff

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Number of Beds: 11 private rooms
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Cerner

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients, including those with complex conditions such as open heart surgery, strokes, and ventilator support.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) drips including dopamine, levophed, epinephrine, nitroglycerin, etc.
• Monitor vital signs, interpret telemetry strips, and manage chest tubes, arterial lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient and family education as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting is required; travel experience preferred.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS.
• Experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters is essential.

Additional Notes

• Charge nurse position available; charge nurses will have a small patient load.
• No nurse aides available; responsibility falls entirely on nursing staff.
• Rapid response team and respiratory therapy available 24/7.
• Pharmacy services available during the day, with after-hours medication mixing required from night shift nurses.
• Orientation: Two shifts of floor-specific training.
