ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Staff Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing holistic care to patients and their families, focusing on independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions as defined by the standards and competencies specific to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The RN's scope of practice encompasses addressing the healthcare needs of patients across various age ranges, from neonates to older adults.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the Standards of Nursing Practice, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Develop and revise the plan of care for patients, coordinating care among interdisciplinary teams and delegating activities to other care providers as appropriate.
• Participate in shared accountability and decision-making to enhance nursing practices and patient care.
• Implement personal leadership qualities and skills to define, enhance, and improve practice standards and the environment of care.
• Deliver remarkable care to customers, ensuring their needs are met throughout their healthcare journey.
• May be required to float to other ICUs and Medical/Surgical (M/S) units based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a critical care environment.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC) are required.
• Experience with adult and geriatric populations is required.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records, particularly Epic, is required.
• Experience with fresh open heart surgery patients, interpretation of cardiac rhythms, and familiarity with Impella and balloon pumps are preferred.

Work Schedule

This position involves rotating shifts, including both days and nights, with a 36-hour guarantee. Candidates are expected to work every weekend.
