Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring critical care skills in ventilator management and conscious sedation.

Details

• ICU unit setting with an average of 0.2 patients per day ratio
• Night shift schedule: 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 36 or 48 hours per week, weekdays with every other weekend required
• Float required to other units as needed
• EMR: Cerner
• Non-billable EMR modules required prior to start, averaging 2-6 hours to complete

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required through AHA
• CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Required skills: conscious sedation, telemetry, and ventilator management
• Additional critical care skills: arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, procedural sedation monitoring, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, IV insulin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Minimum 2 manager and/or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing services to ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
• Scrubs not provided; wine and/or burgundy color required
• Orientation held every other Monday
• Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Previous probationary license actions reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Travel experience not required, making this role suitable for first-time travelers
