Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a Level II trauma teaching hospital, requiring NY RN licensure and 2+ years of critical care experience.

Details

• 349-bed acute care teaching hospital with Level II trauma designation
• Floating required within the Critical Care Service line, including ICU, Medical Stepdown, Surgical Stepdown, and Cardiothoracic Stepdown
• Day shift schedule, 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM, with alternating weekends
• 12.5-hour shifts
• Cares for critically ill patients including trauma, neurosurgery, neuro intervention, post cardiac cath, DKA, and post structural heart patients
• Uses ventilators, endotracheal tubes, tracheostomy, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, transvenous pacing wires, and cardiac drips
• Performs sedation titration, telemetry monitoring, and lab interpretation
• Uses Kronos for timekeeping

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only accepted)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of critical care/ICU experience required; 3+ years preferred
• Strong critical thinking and time management skills required
• Experience with ventilator management, invasive lines, and post-surgical critical care required
• Two professional references from previous managers required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct critical care nursing services to medically complex and post-surgical patients across multiple ICU and stepdown units
• Local candidates accepted within 60 miles at a reduced rate
• Work week for this facility runs Saturday 11:00 PM to Saturday 11:00 PM
• Travelers with prior work history at Northwell/Nuvance Health locations are subject to an eligibility review process before being considered for return
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
