Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring strong neuro critical care experience and an active VA or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital setting
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
  • Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
  • Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
  • 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours
  • Extended assignments through January 2027 available but not required
  • Must work two of the three winter holidays if extended

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission required
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Three years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
  • Strong neuro critical care experience required
  • Epic EMR proficiency required
  • Skilled in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
  • Emergency response and critical care management skills required
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • Must pass a cardiac telemetry/EKG competency exam with 80% or higher (no remediation available)
  • Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing
  • No prior license or background hits permitted for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Perform arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
  • Administer continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration
  • Manage neuro critical care needs including EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
  • Manage renal complications including CVVHD/CRRT for acute/chronic renal failure
  • Care for patients with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury
  • Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula
  • Complete 3 hours of pre-start modules (billable)
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
  • RTO requests reviewed and approved on a per-case basis
