Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring a CA RN license and proficiency in neurological patient care.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting with a high volume of neurological patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Epic charting system required
• Every other weekend required, plus additional weekends based on unit needs
• On-call as needed
• May float to other units within scope of practice, and potentially to Summit or Herrick campuses with as little as 1.5 hours notice
• Shuttle service provided for inter-campus floating

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ICU RN experience required
• Prior travel nurse experience required, ideally at least one year
• Proficiency in neurological cases including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, TBI, and spinal cord injury
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory therapies (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC)
• Experience with arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing patients with acute/chronic renal failure and CRRT/CVVHD
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and neuromuscular blockade
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a complex ICU population, including neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and multisystem organ dysfunction cases
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the local rate
• Returning staff or travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, with only 1 holiday requested per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Re-orientation required only if separated 6+ months since last shift and prior orientation was completed at this facility
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
