Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency across multiple critical care units.

Details

• SRO Float Pool position floating to various ICU and intermediate care units including Medical ICU, Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1), Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU, Special Pathogens Unit (COVID), Thoracic Cardiovascular Intermediate Unit, Surgical Trauma Intermediate Unit, and Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Unit
• May also float to ED Boarders (patients admitted but awaiting room assignment)
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays including Thanksgiving, Black Friday, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Floating within scope of practice required per facility float policy
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with experience in multiple critical care areas preferred due to floating requirements
• Previous travel nursing experience required; not recommended for first-time travelers
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skills required: respiratory/thoracic care, ventilator management, medication administration, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Preferred skills: continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, ICP monitoring, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and Level 1 Trauma experience
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU and intermediate care specialties in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital environment
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance and none approved during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for appropriate start date planning
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have at least a 1-year separation and leadership approval to be considered
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit, regardless of time away
• First-time travelers are not recommended for this position
