Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a permanent MA RN license, Epic proficiency, and a minimum of 2 years of Medical and Surgical ICU experience.
Details
- Community hospital ICU setting serving Medical and Surgical ICU patient populations
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Every third weekend required (Friday and Saturday)
- Float to the ED for boarders as needed
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active, permanent MA RN license required — must be in hand prior to consideration
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in both Medical ICU and Surgical ICU settings
- Community hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to work all 7 days of the week — no special scheduling accommodations can be made
- Two references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
- RNs must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel position
Additional Information
- Required skills include IV therapy, port access and management, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory skills required: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, and care of ventilated patients
- Medication skills required: continuous IV sedation and paralytics, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, IV insulin protocols, emergency medications, and procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Cardiac skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, and management of patients with multisystem organ failure
- Neurological skills required: CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- Additional skills: phlebotomy, infection prevention, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Two pass/fail exams are administered at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry/EKG exam — each allows only one attempt, and failing either results in immediate contract cancellation
- Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have a 12-month separation before being considered
- RTO of up to 14 days may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
