Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a permanent MA RN license, Epic proficiency, and a minimum of 2 years of Medical and Surgical ICU experience.

Details

• Community hospital ICU setting serving Medical and Surgical ICU patient populations
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Every third weekend required (Friday and Saturday)
• Float to the ED for boarders as needed
• Charting via Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active, permanent MA RN license required — must be in hand prior to consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in both Medical ICU and Surgical ICU settings
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to work all 7 days of the week — no special scheduling accommodations can be made
• Two references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
• RNs must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel position

Additional Information

• Required skills include IV therapy, port access and management, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills required: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, and care of ventilated patients
• Medication skills required: continuous IV sedation and paralytics, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, IV insulin protocols, emergency medications, and procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Cardiac skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, and management of patients with multisystem organ failure
• Neurological skills required: CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• Additional skills: phlebotomy, infection prevention, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Two pass/fail exams are administered at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry/EKG exam — each allows only one attempt, and failing either results in immediate contract cancellation
• Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have a 12-month separation before being considered
• RTO of up to 14 days may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
