Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a fast-paced, mixed 39-bed unit requiring prior travel experience and TNCC certification.

Details

• Work in a mixed 39-bed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) divided into pods
• Care for complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases with a heavy trauma population
• Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multi-system trauma
• Cardiac experience with CABG/TAVR (24-48 hrs post op) preferred but not required
• Patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3 depending on acuity
• 12-hour night shifts totaling 48 hours per week
• Weekend rotation attempted for every other weekend, though not guaranteed
• Floating uncommon unless overstaffed, but may float to any adult floor including Medsurg/Tele at 1:4 ratio
• No on-call requirements
• Support includes CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and onsite intensivists/APPs
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris (transitioning to Baxter pumps), and Omnicell

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required, with willingness to obtain TNCC prior to arrival if not already held
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, excluding travel experience (candidates with 1.5 years plus significant non-ICU RN experience may be considered with approval)
• Minimum of one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry required
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Completion of an accredited nursing education program required
• Must be comfortable working a 48-hour/week contract
• Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and ability to work well in a fast-paced team setting required

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for critically ill ICU patients across multiple specialties including cardiac, neuro, surgical, and trauma
• May be asked to precept nursing students
• Navy scrub color required

• Facility orientation includes hospital orientation, department orientation, iLearns, and floor shifts
• No RTO permitted during holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first three weeks of August)
• Time off requests up to 7 days may be approved but must not shorten the required 13-week contract length
• Travelers must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility; local candidates not accepted
• Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and frequently renews travel contracts
