Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring CA RN license, BSN, and at least 4 years of recent ICU experience.
Details
- Float pool position covering ICUs, TCUs, ED and PACU across UCSF facilities
- Rotating 12-hour Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) shifts, 3x12 hours per week
- Schedule cycles are 4 weeks and may alternate between day and night shifts based on need
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Epic charting system preferred
- Floating required to other UCSF facilities and departments, including reassignment within a 75+ mile radius
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- BSN required
- AHA BLS and ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience within the last 6 months to 1 year
- Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Completed travel assignment within the past 12 months required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/Lipids administration
- Experience with ventilator care, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Experience managing cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
- 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across multiple ICU specialties including CVICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, SICU, and Transplant ICU
- Support complex cases involving ECMO, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, and post cardiac surgery management
- Manage neurological conditions such as CVA/stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy care
- Assist with renal complications including AKI, CRRT/CVVHD, and dialysis management
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with full details for rehire eligibility review
- All RTO must be submitted and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract
- RTO is not permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
- Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work the same unit
