Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an IMC/ICU position requiring at least 2 years of experience, prior travel experience, and the ability to float between multiple units including ICU, MS, and ED.
Details
- Work setting includes the Intermediate Care (IMC) and ICU units of an acute care hospital
- Travelers will float to Med/Surg and ED as needed
- Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, step-down, and critical care cases
- Required skills include management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, central line care, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Charting system: Cerner (required)
- Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, day and/or night availability (days: 07:00–19:30, nights: 19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required, totaling 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) per six-week period
Requirements
- Active RN license — MD state license or compact license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, with experience supported within the last 3 years
- ICU experience required
- At least 1 prior completed travel assignment required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Two supervisory professional references required, including one from the most recent assignment
- Driver's license required for local radius determination
Additional Information
- Nurses with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for a minimum of one year before being considered
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted; candidate address must match their driver's license to confirm local status
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
- RTO requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration and cannot be modified after submission to the manager
- Unit-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of contract signing
- Lab and health screening appointments must be completed within 48 hours of signing
- Candidates should plan ahead to avoid scheduling conflicts with compliance deadlines
