Travel Nurse Job Details

• Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse
• Employment Type: Travel Contract
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin 53792
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Start Date: 8/31/2026

Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a compact state license
• Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care experience in cardiac telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown nursing
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA
• Experience with Epic charting preferred or required
• Successful completion of a telemetry exam prior to start
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care for adult cardiac and telemetry patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, ST segments, and dysrhythmias
• Care for patients recovering from cardiac procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker interventions, and electrophysiology procedures
• Administer vasoactive medications and manage complex cardiac therapies as directed
• Support pre- and post-procedure care for patients coming from the cardiac cath lab
• Perform assessments, document accurately, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support patient progress
• Assist with invasive monitoring, cardiac drips, oxygen therapy, and advanced stepdown nursing interventions
• Promote patient education, safety, and recovery in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
