Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit position specializing in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic patients on night shift.
Details
- IMC/Medical-Surgical stepdown unit specializing in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery
- 4:1 patient ratio based on a safe staffing matrix dependent on patient acuity
- Common diagnoses include CABG, femoral bypass, thoracotomy, VATS, CEA, STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF exacerbation, dysrhythmias, pacemaker management, and hemo/pneumothorax
- 16 staffed beds with an average daily census of 16
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Uses Epic charting system
- Floating required to other units and sister facilities within a 75-mile radius as needed
- No block scheduling accommodations available
Requirements
- Active RN license, OK or compact, required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Prior IMC/stepdown cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery experience required
- 1:4-5 patient ratio experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Skills in central line care, PICC line management, chest tube management, cardiac drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias preferred
- Experience with post cardiac catheterization/angiogram care, sheath removal, and TR band use preferred
- Current, valid driver's license or state-issued ID and a utility bill in the traveler's name with a matching address within the last three months required
- Two supervisory references required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery patients requiring intermediate/stepdown level monitoring
- Utilize telemetry monitoring for on-unit and remote patient surveillance and participate in rapid response/code team activations as needed
- Maximum RTO of 5 days per 13-week assignment, with no holiday or blackout date requests accepted
- Local candidates not accepted; permanent address must be greater than 75 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous Integris employees must have a minimum of 1 year separation from employment to be eligible
- Any gaps of 3 months or more in work history must include an explanation
