• Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse
• Location: Springfield, Illinois
• Setting: Acute care stepdown / IMC / PCU
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3x12 preferred, with flexibility for 4x12 if desired
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Cerner preferred
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000 - $2,100
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Floating: Floating as needed within scope to support facility needs

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience required
• Experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown required
• BLS and NIHSS required
• ACLS preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Experience with Cerner preferred
• Ability to provide safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort working with complex adult patients and diverse diagnoses

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adult cardiac stepdown and IMC patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, manage drips within protocol, and support procedural sedation as needed
• Care for patients with cardiac, neurological, respiratory, renal, and post-operative needs
• Manage ventilated patients, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and advanced respiratory support
• Perform thorough assessments, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and communicate changes promptly
• Support rapid response efforts and deliver efficient, safe care in a high-throughput unit
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow unit protocols, isolation precautions, and wound care standards
• Adapt to a busy, team-oriented environment while maintaining strong clinical judgment
