Job Summary:
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is located in Madison, WI. This role involves providing high-quality care to acutely ill surgical and trauma adult patients in a fast-paced, Level One Trauma Center environment. The RN will work in a collaborative team setting on a 26-bed step-down unit, supporting both general and intermediate care levels, with an emphasis on critical thinking and teamwork.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:30 am. Monday through Friday with every other weekend or to meet scheduling needs, and some holidays. Travel candidates may opt for a Thursday-Sunday schedule if interested. Minimum hours per week: 48.0.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), 2 years of recent acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty, and at least 2 years of experience in IMCU, Stepdown, or Telemetry units. Experience with EPIC charting system, pass/Fail telemetry test with strict criteria (including identification of lethal rhythms and heart blocks) with up to two attempts allowed.
• Additional Qualifications: Experience managing Ports, Arterial lines, Blood products, Ventilated patients, Central lines, Chest tubes, and other complex procedures and equipment listed in the skills section. Prior experience in a Level I Trauma Center is preferred.
• Other Details: The assignment begins on 10/12/2026 and ends on 01/11/2027. Candidates will be required to pass a telemetry exam before initial start. Traveler must meet the local rule of residing at least 50 miles away from the facility. Candidate must have excellent charting skills with EPIC and demonstrate the ability to handle high-acuity patients in a dynamic environment.
• Special Procedures/Unit Details: Care delivery may include management of ventilated patients, cardiac telemetry, patient monitoring, wound care, and trauma/acute surgical interventions. The unit supports interdisciplinary teams such as IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
