Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a short stay observation setting, with the possibility of floating to all inpatient units as needed. The position requires working night shifts, and the selected candidate will be responsible for managing admissions, discharges, and complex patient conditions within a high-volume unit.

- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 48 hours
- Start Date: August 31, 2026
- Schedule: Nights only, 12 hours shift, minimum 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification (AHA or ARC), minimum of 3 years of relevant experience including one travel assignment, EPIC charting experience, ability to read and interpret electrocardiogram strips, background in observation units or medical-surgical/telemetry units, and capability to take an EKG exam during compliance.
- Additional Information:
- Must be resilient, adaptable to change, and able to manage independently while collaborating with team members.
- Experience with high patient turnover and the ability to handle complex cases such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and post-op urology and GI.
- Responsibilities include floating to all inpatient units as needed, managing patient ratios of 1:4, and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
- Candidate should be able to work with minimal supervision, possess a positive attitude, and demonstrate flexibility during shift changes and unit demands.
- Scrub color is flexible.
- Flu and COVID vaccination are mandatory; masks are required for unvaccinated travelers during flu season.
