Registered Nurse - Step Down

Position Summary

The role of the Registered Nurse in the Step Down Unit involves providing comprehensive care for patients who require close monitoring and treatment for various medical conditions. This unit comprises 16-20 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing patients with conditions such as Sepsis, Heart Failure, Hypertensive Emergencies, Respiratory Failure, COPD, Chronic Kidney Disease, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Substance Abuse, Status Epilepticus, and Encephalopathy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management.
• Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document all care and assessments accurately in patient records.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a step-down or acute care unit.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and patient education.
