Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Inpatient Rehabilitation unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a NE or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Inpatient Rehab/MedSurg unit within a Level 2 Trauma hospital
• 35-bed unit caring for adults and geriatric patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, and neurological diseases such as MS and Parkinson's
• Day and night 12-hour shifts (0630-1900 and 1830-0700) with cyclic self-scheduling
• Patient ratios of 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights
• Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at a 1:10-15 ratio
• Charge Nurse present on each shift
• RNs not required to titrate drips, though common drips include antibiotics, anticoagulants, and antiplatelets
• Uses Epic EMR
• Floating to MedSurg required
• No call or standby requirements
• Weekend requirement of at least every 3rd weekend
• Holiday requirement of at least 2 holidays per contract

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the state of submission, pending licenses not accepted
• NE state license or Compact (NLC) license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify residence is outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Deliver inpatient rehabilitation nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, and neurological conditions
• Unit orientation includes classroom training plus two 12-hour shifts on the unit
• Must complete a pass/fail open-book exam on Friday during orientation, requiring a 90% score to continue the assignment
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them results in contract termination
• Success on this unit favors strong communicators who are highly organized, collaborative, and compassionate with strong problem-solving skills
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
